For Boards, CEO succession is of the upmost importance. We approach succession in a structured and systematic way, based around the following key questions:

  • Has the Board clarified the business strategy for the next 10 years and what are the key leadership challenges?
  • Has the Board identified the internal candidates and assessed them against this leadership profile?
  • Has this information been reviewed, debated and agreed upon?
  • Has the Board made a series of contingency plans vis a vis potential internal candidates and external candidates?
